Bangalore University increase PG courses fee by up to 300%

Now getting a post graduate degree from Bangalore University might be a costly affair as the university has revised the fee from this academic year. The maximum fee hike is almost 300% for science programmes.

Whereas, general-merit MA student pursuing English, History or Hindi need to pay Rs. 2,150 till last year, but now for the similar courses students have to pay Rs. 5,050 from this academic year. On the other side, fee for the subjects such as Kannada, Dance and Drama courses have increased up to Rs. 6, 650.

The fee hike is almost three folds for subjects such as Social Work, for which now the fee will charged Rs. 8,050. For science programmes, the fee has been increased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 7,050. Besides, the university has rationalised the fee structure for students under general merit, SC/ST and OBC categories. Therefore, students from the reserved categories might end up paying over 150% in some cases. The fee for Master of Fine Arts has shot up from Rs. 17,940 to Rs. 43,050. The costliest course is speech and hearing which will cost now somewhere around Rs. 89,700. For the first time, the fee has been extended to PG students, and they must shell out Rs. 1000 from now onwards.
